we are
The Kāhōkūkeʻalakaʻi Foundation is a Native Hawaiian-led nonprofit dedicated to honoring legacy, uplifting community, and protecting the land for future generations. Rooted in aloha ʻāina and cultural stewardship, we believe in the power of connection—between people, place, and purpose.
Our foundation was born from grief, love, and a desire to continue the work of someone who lived to serve others. Today, we carry that torch by offering programs that focus on cultural preservation, environmental care, youth mentorship, and healing through community outreach.
We serve with humility and heart, embracing the values passed down through generations. Whether we’re cleaning beaches, distributing school supplies, supporting mental health, or creating space for youth to rise—our mission is always the same: to be a guiding light for others.
The Light That Guides Us
This foundation was born from a deep love for someone whose presence continues to guide us, even in his physical absence.
Tristan Kāhōkūkeʻalakaʻi was more than a brother — he was a light in every room, a protector of the ʻāina, and a source of strength for those lucky enough to know him. He lived with purpose, served others selflessly, and carried his culture with pride and humility. He led by example, with aloha at his core.
He had a smile larger than life and a laugh you’d never forget — the kind that could lift your spirits instantly and leave a mark on your heart forever. His joy was contagious, and his presence was felt long after he left the room.
His Hawaiian name, Kāhōkūkeʻalakaʻi, means “the star the leads the way.” And that’s exactly what he remains — a constant presence leading us forward with courage, compassion, and conviction.
The Kāhōkūkeʻalakaʻi Foundation was created in his honor — not just to preserve his memory, but to continue the work he started in his everyday life. Every initiative we launch, every life we touch, is a reflection of the way he lived — grounded in love, service, and a connection to something greater.
Though he is no longer here in body, his light is woven into everything we do. He is the why behind the work. And his legacy is what keeps us moving — always guided by the star that still shines above us.
